FAQ

Pricing

How are your prices 15-30% below domestic distributors?

We import direct from manufacturers, hold inventory in Hartford, and skip the middle layer. No warehouse club fee, no membership, no haggling. The price you see is the price.

Do you price-match Home Depot or Lowes?

We anchor our slab prices at $5 below the lowest comparable HD or Lowes slab. If you find a comparable in-stock SKU lower than ours at either, send the link and we will match it or explain why the products are not equivalent.

Do you offer contractor pricing?

Same prices for everyone. No contractor program, no tier system, no rep-by-rep negotiation. The savings are already baked in.

Product

What is the difference between Slab, Kit, and Pre-Hung?

A Slab is the door panel only. You install it into an existing frame. A Kit is the slab plus a knock-down (KD) jamb that you assemble on site (about 5 minutes with screws, no special tools). Pre-Hung is the door already mounted in the frame, ready to drop into a rough opening. Same door either way. Pre-hung saves about an hour of carpentry.

What jamb depths do you stock?

Standard 4-9/16 inch (fits a 2x4 wall with 1/2 inch drywall on each side), plus 4-5/8 inch and 4-7/8 inch. Select your jamb depth at checkout when ordering Kit or Pre-Hung.

Are your fire-rated doors UL-certified?

Yes. Every fire-rated door we ship has a UL label on the hinge edge identifying the rating. No label, no door. We do not carry uncertified product.

Hollow-core vs solid-core?

Hollow-core has a honeycomb interior. Lighter, cheaper, fine for most bedrooms and closets. Solid-core is a denser composite. Heavier, better sound deadening, recommended for primary bedrooms, bathrooms, and offices. We stock both.

How do I measure my opening?

For a slab replacement: measure the existing door width and height. For a pre-hung replacement: measure the rough opening (stud-to-stud and floor-to-header). Standard widths are 24, 28, 30, 32, 36 inches. Standard height is 80 inches. Not sure? Take photos and email karan@kbpdoors.com.
